Hey guys, long time no see~
I saw this Legend of Zelda journal floating around and thought I would give it a shot.
Favorite game in the seriesThat really depends on which aspect of the games we're focusing on. If we're talking about the game with the best story, I would have to say Majora's Mask is my favorite...but if we're talking about the game with the best gameplay, it would be a tie between A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess.
Least favorite game in the seriesPhantom Hourglass, without a doubt.
You want a recipe for absolute disaster? Then just combine 2 cups of bland and/or ungodly annoying characters (I swear, Ciela makes Navi look as badass as Midna), 3 heaping tablespoons of the same boring sailing gameplay as Wind Waker, a dash of disappointing villain (seriously, they couldn't come up with something cooler than Bellum?), a pinch of crappy Nintendo DS controls...let that cake bake for 5 hours, then ice it with the final ingredient: the Temple of the Ocean King, AKA the most horrendous dungeon in the history of the Zelda series!!
Yeah...that cake tastes pretty nasty, doesn't it?
Favorite characterMah boi the Happy Mask Salesman <3
He's such an intriguing individual, and while most people think that he's creepy/nefarious/evil, I like to think of him as a mysterious wanderer, a quirky guru who offers tidbits of wisdom and words of encouragement to those he meets along his journey. He's been the inspiration for a lot of mentor characters in my own stories, and I just love everything about the guy.
Plus...his temper tantrums are just glorious~
Least favorite character
CIELA THE FAIRY
OH GOD I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU SO MUCH I HOPE YOU BURN YOU LITTLE DEMON SPAWN
Favorite version of Link
Definitely WW Link. I've always preferred child Link to adult Link in the series, and this incarnation has so much personality and charm compared to the others. AND unlike the others, he is believable as a young, inexperienced hero: instead of being perfect from the get-go, he's portrayed as a lazy, awkward, clumsy and mischievous kid who must overcome his shortcomings in order to save the world. Very refreshing, if you ask me.
Favorite version of Zelda
Y'know, I
reaaaaaaaaaaally want to say Tetra and I
reaaaaaaaaaaally want to say Sheik...but I'm afraid I can't. These Zelda alter-egos made for such cool, badass, inspirational women in the Zelda series...that is, when they
weren't Zelda. Because as soon as these two incarnations transform into Princess Zelda, they both fall victim to what the beloved Nostalgia Critic calls the "Dumbass in Distress" syndrome: when a strong, independent woman who has clearly demonstrated that she can take care of herself, suddenly finds herself a helpless captive of the main villain and needs to be rescued by the male lead. That kind of lazy plot device really pisses me off.
NOW, with that being said...I would have to say that SS Zelda is my favorite incarnation. She's intelligent, light-hearted, friendly, playful and kind, as well as steadfastly loyal to those closest to her.
Favorite female character
MIDNA, BABE
Favorite male character
Besides HMS? Probably ALttP Link...with all the crap he has to put up with in that game, you really can't help but admire the guy.
Favorite main character
Now, this might surprise you...but I have to go with Ganondorf on this one.
First of all, he is the only main character in the series who continues on as the same individual across games instead of being reincarnated; therefore, his story is already deeper and more complex than that of any of the other main characters. And second, what we
don't know about him is just as fascinating as what we do know. In Wind Waker, he allowed us a brief glimpse into a more tragic side of his being that we had never seen before...but where does it come from? What did this man endure in his early life that blackened his heart and set him on the path to evil? I know that story exists somewhere out there, and nothing would make me happier than to learn more about this fascinating individual.
Favorite side character
Again, besides HMS? XD
I think I'll go with the King of Red Lions, because he is my absolute favorite Zelda companion :3
Favorite area (from any game)
Well, my favorite rendering of Hyrule itself is the one from Twilight Princess...it's just so massive and beautiful, and there are so many cool places to explore! But more specifically? The City in the Sky is probably my favorite. As a dungeon, it annoys the crap outta me, but as a location, I ADORE this place. The architecture is so cool and majestic, and loving flying through it with the Double Clawshot~
Favorite villain
Definitely Majora, as he is the only villain in the entire Zelda series to genuinely terrify me.
When did you get into the series? How did you find out about it?
My dad and grandmother both liked playing video games when I was little, and at age 4 or 5, I watched my dad play A Link to the Past on our old SNES. I thought the game was really neat, but at the time, I was only interested in playing Mario games. Then we got an N64 when I was about 6, and Dad started playing Ocarina of Time. He quickly became frustrated, as he couldn't get through the Kokiri Forest (he wasn't very good at Zelda games, honestly...>.>), so one day, I decided to try it for myself out of curiosity. And the rest...is history~
If you could develop the next Zelda game, what would it be like?
Interestingly enough, I came up with an idea for a new Zelda game a while back entitled "The Bridge of Tatrion." In the game, Link lives in a tiny village in a land that was decimated by a great catastrophe many decades back, a catastrophe that no one in the village seems to recall. One day, he ventures into the mysterious forest just outside the village and comes upon a strange bridge suspended over an enormous abyss, so large that he can't even see the other side. When he ventures across the bridge, he emerges in a completely different land: Hyrule.
Soon after this, he meets Arvena, Princess Zelda's rugged alter ego who disguises herself in rags and wields a bow-and-arrow as she ventures out into the unknown. She explains to him that she had a vision that a powerful entity would lay Hyrule to ruin...possibly the same entity that destroyed Link's own land. And she senses that the secret to stopping this entity lies with the mysterious Bridge of Tatrion, a structure built in ancient times that contains the power to cross the divide between realms...but how? Link and Arvena must work together to traverse both realms, unravel the mysteries of the past and future, and save another land from destruction...before it's too late.
What spin-off game would you like to see? (ex - Sports game, Party game, Racing game, etc.)
Give me a mash-up of Mario Party and Smash Bros....that is, a Zelda party game where the characters throw temper tantrums and beat each other up if they don't get their way. XD
What cross-over game would you like to see with Legend of Zelda? (ex Legend of Zelda + Mario)
Well, considering the fact that Zelda's ONLY cross-over games (Hyrule Warriors) are just lame beat-'em-ups that, in my mind, really don't belong in the series at all...I think I'll just stick to Smash Bros. for now.
What character would you put in Hyrule Warriors that isn’t already in the game?
I am indifferent to Hyrule Warriors, so pass.
If you could live in Hyrule, where would you live? What would you do for a living? (Be a little more imaginative than just “I wanna be the hero” or “I would be the princess of Hyrule”)
Honestly, I would love to own my own ranch in Ordon Village like Fado and Link do. It seems like such a peaceful existence.
We’ve sort of seen the beginnings of Hyrule - What do you think the endings would be?
I figure that once Ganon has reared his ugly pig head enough times, the people of Hyrule will finally just say "f**k this" and return to the sky. Y'know...coming full circle and whatnot. XD
If you only had 3 days to live in Termina, what would you do? Assume you are not playing the role of Link.
If it were an option, I'd get the hell outta dodge! I'm sure I could steal one of the Gorman Brothers' horses and blackmail the Happy Mask Salesman into magicking us back to the Lost Woods...I'll take my chances with the Stalfos, thank you very much.
BUT, if that isn't an option, I think I'd probably head on over to the Milk Bar and drink until the Moon looked like a giant piece of pepperoni.
Which piece of the Triforce do you think best represents yourself?
Being the lame-ass noob that I am, I think any part of the Triforce would be ashamed to be associated with me. XD
Draw yourself as a character from Hyrule (Don’t just put yourself in Link’s clothes, think about what the average citizens wear)
Nah, don't have time for drawings right now...just look at my profile pic and picture me dressed up as that one green middle-aged bozo who really needs to get laid...*ahem* :bademoticon:
If you had the full Triforce, what would you do with it?
I would give it to Groose and fulfill the destiny that Hyrule was always meant for~
If you turned into a wolf or other form of beast/animal in the Twilight, what would you look like? Feel free to draw it.
I'd be a beaver....because there just aren't enough beavers in the Zelda series.
What’s one thing that you want to see the most from the series? (ex - Remake of your favorite game, a new style of game, new TV show or comic, etc.)
MOAR OF DA TINGLEZ
But in all seriousness, I want to see Nintendo finally strike the perfect balance between story and gameplay in a Zelda game. If SS and BotW are any indication, then a game that goes too far in either direction is going to have serious flaws. If we could have a Zelda game with a complex, thought-provoking story like Majora's Mask and fun, challenging gameplay like A Link to the Past, it would be the best game in the entire series!!
What DLC pack would you make for Hyrule Warriors that hasn’t already been done?
I do not ascribe to the gospel of video game DLC. I hope you will kindly respect my beliefs.
What do you think a Legend of Hilda game would be like?
Never played A Link Between Worlds, so no comment.
What character(s) or event would you like to see more backstory on?
GAAAAAAAANONDOOOOORF PLLLLLLLLLLZZZZZZZZZ
What’s your favorite part of Legend of Zelda games? (ex - Getting all the collectibles, exploring, doing dungeons, fighting bosses, story, etc.)
I think we can all agree on what the best part of ANY Zelda game is...
...
...Smashing pots, farming rupees, and generally being a total jackass and getting away with it~
If you could only play one Legend of Zelda game for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
I refuse to choose. I would give them all up before I would single one out above the rest~
